He studied voice in London and in Italy and sang in the 1920s with the touring Carl Rosa Opera Company. Between English ballads and Lohengrin or Samson, he made 54 recordings for Columbia from 1923 to 1929. He also sang on the radio. After retiring, he was choirmaster at the Inghamite Church in his native Winewall.
