He grew up in Toulon. In 1907, he went to Paris, where soprano Agnès Borgo
(1879–1958) discovered his voice, funded his studies at the conservatory – and became his wife in 1913.
In 1911, he made his debut at the Opéra-Comique in the title role of Grétry's Richard Coeur-de-Lion; he
stayed at that theater until 1914, singing Massenet's des Grieux and Don José, among others. After an argument with
the Opéra-Comique management, Vezzani left the house – and Paris, never to return.
He pursued his career in Marseille, Toulon, Nice and Toulouse, in Brussels, in Switzerland. He was particularly popular at
the Algiers opera, where he spent WWII.
In 1948, during a rehearsal at the Toulon opera theater, he suffered a stroke, and was thenceforth completely paralyzed.
His most important roles were Faust, José, Éléazar, Vasco da Gama, Arnold, Lohengrin, Siegmund, Siegfried
and Sigurd.
