Victor Granier

Picture of Victor Granier
This picture of Granier comes from an APGA postcard. It is not impossible that Granier made test records for APGA. Unknown APGA test records of O'Sullivan were discovered.
Granier in New Orleans
Granier made his debut on the opening night of the 1911/12 season as Éléazar in La Juive. During that season, he was heard as Raoul (Huguenots), Don José, Rodolfo (La bohème), Fernand (La favorite), Manrico, Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Radames, des Grieux, and Vasco da Gama.
Once again, as the season ended the troupe planned a tour: to Natchez, Mississippi; Jackson, Mississippi; Shreveport, Louisiana; Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas, Texas; Chicago, Memphis, Tennessee; Detroit, Michigan; Cleveland, Ohio; Philadelphia, PA; Washington, D.C.; and finally a week in New York from 22 April. Again, since I have not attempted to follow their travels I am not sure whether or not this tour took place.

I wish to thank Jack Belsom for the information on New Orleans.
The following review in French of a performance of La Juive in Toulon complains about the poor performance of the tenor. It then remembers the tenors of the past that sang La Juive in Toulon and in particular Granier who repeated all his arias, except La couronne des martyrs which he repeated twice.
