L. Hugues

It's not worth puzzling one's head about what "L." might stand for; it stands for nothing, "L. Hugues" was a mere stage name, with an abbreviated first name. The singer's real name was Hugues Anastay; he used it occasionally, such as in his 1896 season in Les Sables d'Olonne.
