After studies with M. Sladkovskij, he was a soloist of the Ukrainian "Dumka" choir from 1951 to 1954. 1958–61, soloist of the Almaty Philharmonic. 1961–1977, soloist of the Bolshoj.
Important roles: Don Carlo, Kuterma, German. He appeared also in comprimario parts.
