Volodymyr Andrijovych Myrkotan

born 20 January 1937 Iskrene (Cherkasy region, Ukraine)

He graduated from the Kiev conservatory in 1965. Soloist of the Kiev opera theater from 1966 to 1973. The next four years, he was in a Red Army song-and-dance ensemble in East Germany. From 1977 to 2011, he was a soloist with the National Philharmonic of Ukraine. At the same time, he taught voice at the National Academy of Music in Kiev, where he was head of the department of solo singing from 2006 to 2011.

Abroad, he sang in Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Poland.

He had a vast repertory of Ukrainian and Russian lieder and folk songs. Operatic roles included Andrij (Katerina by Arkas), Lykov, Finn, Arturo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Faust, Lorenzo (Fra Diavolo).
