The following is taken from my review of the concert of July 24, 1999 in Tokyo.
Born in Tokyo February 23rd, 1976. He studied with the Japanese Baritone Michio Tatara, with his father,
Motoharu Nakajima (also a tenor), and from 1996 to 1997, Nakajima was taught by Gianni Raimondi
in Bologna. He debuted as Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana in Tokyo on December 1st, 1998.
He was a finalist
of the 2nd International Singing Competition "Concorso Franco Corelli 1999". He is now
a student of Tokyo University of Art. The director of the Japanese National Opera just
proposed him to be a cover for the role of Riccardo in Ballo in maschera, Nakajima wisely
declined saying it was too early for him.
