Ferdi BéroAs a member of the Grand-Théâtre in Geneva for the 1923/24 season, he appeared as Gounod's Faust, as Cavaradossi, Werther and Rodolfo in October, as Canio in December, as Duca di Mantova in January 1924, in Le jongleur de Notre-Dame in February, as Cavaradossi again in March, then in Bazin's Le voyage en Chine in April; in May, he sang Cavaradossi, Canio and Jean. Following that, he sang the summer season 1924 at the Casino in Boulogne-sur-Mer, where he didn't please at all, however. Next, he joined the troupe of the Royal Theater in Gent; the operatic history of Belgium is largely a blind spot, and there are also no Belgian newspapers available online, so I cannot give any details about Béro's Gent tenure, but from tours the Gent opera made to Roubaix, it's at least possible to say that he sang Canio there, and Cavaradossi, which was considered his best role. At some point in his career, he was at the Opéra de Nice – perhaps in 1925/26? Again at some point of his career, he was a member of the troupe in Antwerp; maybe in 1926/27, but that's merely a speculation. By 1927, however, Béro had become First Tenor of the Théâtre de La Monnaie in Brussels; in October, he sang Massenet's des Grieux as a guest in Roubaix. For the 1927/28 season, he had a contract in Nancy. His first role there was Gounod's Faust in October, and it was largely a failure; critics attested him a good, robust voice, but his singing was devoid of any charm or nuances, and his acting skills close to inexistent. In the same role, a guest appearance in Rouen in December 1927 was equally unsuccessful. Since I didn't find any further references to Béro, not even for that (last?) season in Nancy, I guess his career wasn't exactly very long.
