Mystery tenor, about whom even knowledgeable Russian collectors don't know anything. The only information
on him comes from the Bolshoj archives; he sang there in 1946 and 1947, and again for few performances in 1956. The Bolshoj cast him in
five comprimario roles: Azamat in Bella (a Soviet novelty by Anatolij Aleksandrov), First Herald in Snegurochka, Distiller
in Majskaja noch, Spice-Cake Seller in Vrazhya sila (The power of the fiend) by Serov, and finally Remendado. What he did
between his two Bolshoj tenures, or before and after, is not clear thus far. He
definitely sang on the Soviet radio, because he left (very few) recordings made there, the most important of which is:
Majskaja noch (this time in the leading part of Levko, however)
with Maria Maksakova, Sergej Krasovskij, Elizaveta Antonova,
Georgij Abramov, Sergej Streltsov, Daniil Demjanov, Elizaveta
Shumskaja, Zara Dolukhanova, G. Pavlova, L. Khananina
Chorus and orchestra of Radio Moscow
Conductor: Nikolaj Golovanov
Recorded 1946
