A pupil of Tino Pattiera in Vienna, he began at the Vienna Volksoper in
the 1956/57 season. 1957–62 at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Düsseldorf and Duisburg), 1962–64 in Karlsruhe,
from 1964 to his death in Zürich. He sang exclusively small parts and was so successful in that repertory that he made lots of guest appearances, primarily in Germany, but also in Athens, Paris (Opéra-Comique) or Rome. His specialty was contemporary music, and he sang in many world premieres and Swiss premieres. Reference: Kutsch & Riemens |
