He made his debut in Ferrara in December 1885 as Macduff. From 1889, he was active in South
America (Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Sã Paulo), singing a mix of main and comprimario roles, and on tour in North America
with Henry Abbey's Italian Grand Opera Company. Apart from a brief return to Italy in 1896, he stayed in the US for the rest
of his career (until 1910), now exclusively as a comprimario. He was with the Metropolitan Opera from 1894 to 1903, singing
428 performances both at the Met proper and on tour all over the USA and Canada. After his departure from the Met, he sang
above all in Boston. Later on, he taught voice in Italy.
