Richard Berkeley-Steele
British-born Richard Berkeley-Steele had a heldentenor career mostly far from the centers
of the operatic world: Grange Park Opera in West Horsley (England), Opera Australia, the China National Opera House in
Beijing, the Grand Theater in Fuzhou, Bogotà, Prague, Opéra Angers Nantes, Korea National Opera; but also the
Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, Radio France (where he sang Tristan under Myung-Whun Chung), Covent Garden,
Washington and one single performance at the Met (Laca in Její pastorkyňa in 2003). He sang, at least
occasionally, into the 2020s, when already primarily a voice teacher.
