Gervase Elwes
In RA format
Gervase Elwes, born November 15th, 1866 in Billing Hall (England), died January 12th, 1921 in Boston. A British
aristocrat and originally in the diplomatic service, he started studying voice quite late and made his debut
only in 1903, at the Westmoreland Festival in Humperdincks forgotten opera "Wallfahrt nach Kevelaer". He was
primarily an oratorio and lieder tenor. Stumbling at Boston station, he was killed by the in-bound train.
I would like to thank Anton Bieber for the label scan and recording of Morning hymn.
