Richard Burke

Richard Burke came from Abilene, Texas. Had a relatively short career in Europe, after which he returned to Abilene to become music director at a Methodist and later a Lutheran church. He was at the Wiener Staatsoper for some years in the late 1980s, singing mostly smaller roles, with an occasional leading role. He left, very unhappy because he said the Staatsoper would force him into too heavy parts. Actually, I heard him much improved after he had left the Staatsoper, as Lenskij in Klagenfurt/Austria.
