Robert Thomas Wales
A native of Cardiff, he studied voice at the Royal Academy of Music with Norman Allin; his studies were
interrupted and thus delayed by his service in the Royal Navy in World War II. In 1950, he became Principal Tenor at
Sadler's Wells; later on, he sang with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company (according to his descendants), or primarily with
the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff (according to Kutsch & Riemens).
After retiring from singing, he became a professional and successful potter.
