Marius Corpait
He studied voice at the Conservatoire National in Paris, with Victor Warot and Léon Melchissedec. He was a baritone first, and a very good one, as his
records prove. He is said to have made his debut in 1906 at the Opéra-Comique, as Ourrias in Mireille; but I
suppose that was just his Opéra-Comique debut and he already sang elsewhere earlier, since his recording activity started
in January or February 1904.
In 1908, he restudied as a tenor with Jules Juliani, and made his second debut in Rameau's Hippolyte et Aricie, at the
Opéra this time. He sang at both theaters into the 1920s.
After his stage career, he taught voice, and in the 1930s ran the cinema of Sartrouville near Paris.
