François (also Ricardo) Garcia

François (Ricardo) Garcia singsRoméo et Juliette: Ah lêve-toi, soleil

François (Ricardo) Garcia singsIl trovatore: Di quella pira
Why he called himself alternatingly François and Ricardo, is a mystery that I couldn't solve. In the 1970s, he was a comprimario first at the Opéra de Lyon, then at the Paris Opéra, while singing main roles in the remoter French provinces.

In the 1980s, he turned to operetta, trying to be the umpteenth successor of Luis Mariano. He appeared throughout France, particularly in Dax, Béziers, Nîmes, Lyon, St-Étienne, Paris (Cirque d'Hiver) and Lille, and also toured Canada, Switzerland and Belgium. He also composed a whole lot of light music.

In his old age (into the 2020s!), he would record songs and arias at home to synthesizer or karaoke accompaniment and, devoid of any feelings of shame, post them on Youtube – a serious competitor for Jacques Pottier or George Savelli.
