Most everywhere, you can read that Saint-Cricq was born and/or died in Brittany; nonetheless, that's completely mistaken. He
was from Paris, and died in Berck, which is in Pas-de-Calais, in the utmost North of France. He studied voice at the
Conservatoire National in Paris, and made a relatively late debut in 1930 in Rouen, in the world premiere of Rukmabaï
by Raoul de Montalent.
From 1932, he was an important member of the Paris Opéra, but it's less than clear how long he stayed there: according to
Kutsch & Riemens, until 1947, but according to Stéphane Wolff's reference work about the Paris opera theaters, only until
1935! Kutsch & Riemens also have him at the Opéra-Comique, while according to Wolff, he never sang there.
In any case, he also sang a lot in the South of France: Marseille, Toulouse, Monte Carlo, Bordeaux.
Saint-Cricq's domain were the heroic roles: Otello, Samson, Sigurd, Lohengrin, Radames, José.
He quit the stage in 1955. Already during his active career, he taught singing at the Rouen conservatory; one of his pupils was
mezzosoprano Simone Couderc.
