Feiersinger studied in Vienna with Josef von Manowarda and Hans Duhan. He started his career in Heilbronn (1939/40) and Jablonec/Gablonz (1940/41). Drafted into the Wehrmacht, he was soon allowed to continue his career, in Saarbrücken, this time (1941–43). In 1943, however, he was drafted again, and had now to serve until the war was over.

His further regular contracts were as unremarkable as the first ones: Salzburg (1945–47), Innsbruck (1947–49), Saarbrücken (1949–51), Wiesbaden (1951–53), Graz (1953/54), and finally Nürnberg (1954&ndash75). All the more astounding where he sang as a guest: San Francisco (1958/59, Tannhäuser, Kaiser and Ägisth), Metropolitan Opera (1958/59, as well: Stolzing, Canio), Bayreuth Festival, Vienna State Opera (1954–63, though just a few performances: Faust, Hoffmann, Max, Erik, Stolzing, Siegmund), La Scala (1963, Siegmund), Rome, Florence, Bologna, Monte Carlo (1961, Tristan), Amsterdam, Opéra de Paris, Zürich, Chicago (1963, Florestan), Genova, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Marseille, Parma, Naples, Baltimore, Brussels, Madrid, State Opera Berlin, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, and lots of smaller theaters – almost always in leading heldentenor roles (other than those already mentioned, as Otello, Hüon, Siegfried, Parsifal and so on). Amazing for someone who belonged to the troupe of a provincial theater like the one in Nürnberg!
