Curt Taucher
25 October 1885 Nürnberg – 7 August 1954 Munich
In RA format
He started his career in 1908 in Augsburg, was then a member of the theatres of Chemnitz and
Hannover, and came eventually to Dresden in 1920, where he stayed until his retirement in 1935.
From 1922 to 1927, he also sang regularly at the Met. He had a reputation as being one of the most
intense actors on the operatic stage, and one of the foremost heldentenors of his time – qualities to
which his records are not a particularly impressive testimony.
