Thanos Petrakis
After initial law studies in Athens, he studied singing in Athens, Vienna and Milano. He made his debut in 1966 as the Herald in Don Carlo at the Greek National Opera in Athens, where he would appear throughout his career, not frequently but regularly, until 2005 – and besides his debut, almost always in leading roles: Rodolfo, Pinkerton, Alfredo, Gabriele Adorno, Percy, Eisenstein, Manrico, Nerone (L'incoronazione di Poppea), Cavaradossi, Otello, Erster Geharnischter, Pollione, Edgardo, Ismaele, Don Alvaro, Dick Johnson, Don Carlo, Danilo, Erik, Altoum, Spalanzani and Fatty (Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny). I wish to thank Stathis Arfanis for the picture. |
