Kostas Petropoulos

1887 Arfara – 10 February 1949 Athens

Kostas Petropoulos sings Chaire agapi mou glykia (Roubanis)
In RA format
Petropoulos was of rural origin and without much musical or other education. In 1914, he emigrated to America. I suppose his voice must have been discovered there, or it would be difficult to explain that after a few years, he returned to Europe, and went to Milano to study voice.

He spent his career as a dramatic tenor at the foremost Greek opera company before WWII, the touring Elliniko Melodrama.

He died impoverished and forgotten, at an old age home, from a stroke.
