Franco Marini![]()
He was born Franco Brozzesi in Marino near Rome (Marino, hence his stage name Marini). He studied voice in Italy, and then left the country for good: in 1956, he settled in Australia and joined the Elizabethan Trust Opera Company, making his debut as Luigi. He also sang on the Australian radio and in concert with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. He eventually became an Australian citizen. He spent his entire career between Australia and the USA (New York City Opera, Palm Beach). In later years, he sang on ocean liners. He retired to Florida, where he taught voice and in his free time sculpted.
