Giuseppe Mauro studied voice with private teachers in Milano and made his debut as early as 1901, at 21 years old. Ten years into his career, he emigrated to the United States, where he quit the stage relatively soon and opened a singing school in New York City. One of his students was the San Francisco born "schoolgirl coloratura" Marie Vero, whom he taught for free because she could not afford paying for her lessons; the deal was that she would pay him later, when earning money as a singer. As soon as she made a career in vaudeville, Vero didn't want to know anything of any deal with Mauro, and refused to pay. Mauro took the matter to court; unfortunately, I don't know about the outcome.

Giuseppe Mauro fell ill in 1927 and died in the intermission of a concert of his students in 1928.
