Giorgio Grimaldi
born 25 February 1936 Bologna
After studies with Ettore Campogalliani, he made his debut at the Teatro Nuovo in Milano in 1962, as Paolino in
Il matrimonio segreto. His career developed very quickly: La Scala, Rome, Bologna, Florence, Palermo, Parma, Trieste,
Venice, Torino; and abroad, Vienna Staatsoper, Amsterdam, Lyon, Strasbourg, Prague, Ciudad de México. A purely lyrical
tenor, he was at home in the Mozart and belcanto repertory. He also sang, very unusually for an Italian, Bach in concert.
