Luigi Infantino
A native of Sicily, he studied voice with Italo Brancucci in Parma, where he also made his debut in 1943 as Rodolfo. His breakthrough came in the same role, two years later at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. In 1946, he sang Rodolfo and Duca in London with the San Carlo troupe, and he made his Scala debut as Don Ramiro. He sang a lot at La Scala until 1950 (Alfredo, Duca, Almaviva, Nadir, Tamino, and the tenor part in Verdi's Requiem), but then never again. I wish to thank Daniele Godor for the recording (Maremma). I wish to thank Vladimir Efimenko for the picture (profile). I wish to thank Thomas Silverbörg for the recordings (Bohème, Turandot, Dicitencello vuje, Lucia, Pagliacci). |
