Oppezzo was a soldier (and got wounded) in Italy's Abessinian war in 1896: his voice was discovered in the army, and the conductor of the military band
advised him to study voice after coming home. So he did; he made his debut in 1900 at the Teatro Sociale in Pallanza (Verbania). He spent
his career at mostly secondary theaters in Italy and from 1908 also in the USA. The below chronology is incomplete for America: Oppezzo
stayed there more or less continuously from at least 1914; he toured the country with the Lambardi Grand Opera Company, and also sang in
concerts with four Lambardi colleagues as the "Royal Italian Quintet".
His last appearances were in January 1918 in Mexico City; he died there soon after that.
