Gianfranco Pastine
I wish to thank Thomas Silverbörg for the recording.
He worked in the hotel industry before studying voice in Milano, where he also made his debut in 1963 at the Teatro Nuovo as Mascagni's Silvano. His career took steam quickly: Rome Teatro dell'Opera, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Regio in Parma, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova, Belgrade, Barcelona, Philadelphia, Hartford, Cincinnati. In 1965, he toured Europe with an Italian company, singing for instance in Amsterdam, where he returned two years later. In 1973 and 1974, he was in Budapest as a guest, in 1977 at the Met (seven performances as Pinkerton), in 1978 at the Vienna Staatsoper (just one performance as Duca), in 1985 at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires (Pinkerton). He sang into the 1990s. |
