Alfredo Poggianti

Poggianti's probable debut took place in January 1916 at the Teatro Coccia in Novara, in Catalani's demanding opera Edmea. He then appeared in main roles for at least ten years; his career is poorly documented, but he definitely sang parts like Gounod's Faust or Pinkerton, and at well-reputed venues like the Teatro Duse in Bologna, the Teatro Sociale in Mantova or the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca.

In the 1930s, he sang on the radio, while switching to comprimario parts on stage: Beppe, Spoletta, Pong, Cassio, Gastone, Altoum and so on. He pursued his career until at least August 1948, when he was Altoum to Maria Callas' Turandot in an open-air production in Genova.
