Fabio Sartori
Sartori studied voice at the Conservatorio Benedetto Marcello in Venice and began in the choir of the Teatro
La Fenice, where he also made his solo debut as Rodolfo in 1996. (Forget the biography of Kutsch & Riemens, not sure which
Sartori they're talking about.) The following year, he was already at La Scala as Macduff, in 1999 in Berlin (Gabriele Adorno in
a concert performance under Claudio Abbado) and at the Vienna Staatsoper (Carlo in Linda di Chamounix).
A first-rate international career followed: both Berlin opera theaters, Chicago, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Zürich, Barcelona,
Madrid, Arena di Verona, Covent Garden... But his artistic home always remained La Scala.
In his early years, I enjoyed his performances much. As he ventured into the dramatic repertory (Radames, Don Carlo, Canio), the
joy did not last. |
