Gaetano Scano
He studied voice in his native Verona, where he also made his debut in 1970. He made his career in Italy
(Arena di Verona, Trieste, Torino, Teatro La Fenice in Venice), Spain (Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Bilbao Festival), South
America (Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Caracas, Santiago de Chile) and North America (Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, New
Orleans, New York City Opera, Connecticut Opera, Montreal). He also sang a handful of performances at the Vienna
Staatsoper (1976, 1983 and 1986).
His repertory included Radames, Iacopo (I due Foscari), Arrigo (La battaglia di Legnano), Duca, Pollione, Tebaldo (I Capuleti e i
Montecchi), Licinio (La vestale), Edgardo, des Grieux (Manon Lescaut), Pinkerton, Turiddu, Golitsyn, Nehlyudov (Risurrezione by
Alfano).
