A pupil of, among others, Marcello Del Monaco (the brother), Amedeo Zambon made his debut at La Fenice in Venice in 1960 or 1961. (No matter how often you read "Amadeo" Zambon, his name was Amedeo.)

From 1962 to 1965, he sang in İstanbul: Rodolfo, Cavaradossi, Calaf, Canio, Radames or – fasten seat belts! – Jeník in Turkish!!

Then he returned to Italy and had a respectable career that included La Scala, the San Carlo in Naples, the Massimo in Palermo, the Terme di Caracalla in Rome and the Arena di Verona. Abroad, he appeared in Monte Carlo, Liège, at the Paris Opéra, in Stockholm, Cairo, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Bern (huge success as Otello in 1985), Dallas, at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and quite regularly at the Vienna Staatsoper (32 performances from 1969 to 1987). One single performance at the Met was unsuccessful (Manrico, 1978).

He was married to soprano Diana Jamieson.
