Albert Giriat

Why the playbill (which is from Algiers) calls him "André" is mysterious. His first
name was Albert, he was born in Villeurbanne on December 12th, 1910, and was hired by the Opéra-Comique in 1938 and by the Opéra in 1943. A promising
career on the outset, cut short when he crashed with his car and died. I have no date for his death; the playbill above is said to be
from 1948, but I doubt it and think he was already dead by then; from his appearances in Paris, I guess he died in late 1944 or early
1945.

I want to thank Claude Ridou for the playbill.
