Misha Didyk

Born in Khmelnytskyj, Ukraine, on 20 November 1963. He sang at almost every important opera theater in the world, Kiev, the Bolshoj, the Mariinskij, the Met, the State Operas of Berlin and Vienna, Chicago, La Scala, the Liceo, Lyon, Philadelphia...

While there are on Youtube, admittedly, some rather satisfying live recordings of him in dramatic parts like German or Grigorij, he sounds too often like in the two excerpts below – and while hard luck like in the Trovatore excerpt hits most every singer from time to time, the Tosca excerpt was posted (on Youtube) by nobody else than Didyk himself. Also when I heard him in Z mrtvého domu at the Vienna State Opera in 2011, he sounded pretty much the same, which was reason enough for me to avoid his performances ever since.
