Dmitry Korchak
In RA format
Dmitry Korchak, born 1979 near Moscow, won awards at the Francisco Viñas Competition and at Domingo's Operalia.
He made a big career early on: Pesaro, Rome, Naples,
Munich, Brussels, Macerata, Carnegie Hall, La Scala, Zürich, Berlin Staatsoper – and Vienna Staatsoper, where I heard
him a few times. While he was acceptable as Lenskij, his mannered and unfree tone production caused dismay in the belcanto repertory
that he was considered a specialist for. He started a parallel second career as a conductor. "Dmitry" is the transliteration he
decided to use.
