Born 1 January 1941 in Asov. Vocal studies at the conservatory in Rostov-on-Don. In 1971, Majboroda completed his studies at the Rostov-on-Don Rachmaninoff Conservatory (A. Beljaeva's class). In the same year, he joined the Kirov.

From 1975 to 1977, Majboroda perfected his skills at La Scala, where he prepared: Radames, Otello, Ismaele and Cavaradossi.

From 1979, Majboroda was a soloist with the Bolshoj, where he sang comprimario parts at the end of his career.

His repertory at the Bolshoj included: José, German, Master of Ceremonies (Pikovaja dama), Nozdrjov (Shchedrin's Mjortvye dushi/Dead souls), Pinkerton, Don Juan (Dargomyzhskij's Kammenyj gost), Andrej Khovanskij, Golitsyn, Kuzka (all three: Khovanshchina), Bomelij (Tsarskaja nevesta), Iskra (Mazepa) , Osip Nikiforovich (Noch pered Rozhdestvom/Christmas eve), Grishka Kuterma, Shujskij, Grigorij, Bojar (Boris Godunov), Albert (Rachmaninoff's Skupoj rytsar), Dante (Francesca da Rimini), Abdallo, Prince of Persia (Turandot), Shabby Person & Coachman (Lady Macbeth Mtsenskogo uezda/Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Almerik, Master of ceremonies (L'amour des trois oranges), Footman, Kutuzov's Aide-de-camp and Backstage voice (Vojna i mir/War and peace).

Majboroda's repertory further included: Menshikov (Petrov's Pjotr Pervyj/Peter the First), Vladimir, Don Carlo and Werther.

Majboroda toured, among other countries: Italy, Yugoslavia, France, England, Turkey, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Greece, Sweden, Switzerland, Scotland, Holland, Germany.
