Valerij Mikhajlovich Mironov

born 6 April 1941 Slovyansk

Valerij Mironov as Pollione

Drafted in 1960, he served in the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Kiev Military District. When released from the army in 1963, he enrolled into the Chajkovskij Conservatory in Moscow. While studying, he sang in the Aleksandrov Ensemble of the Red Army.

His operatic career started in 1971 in Cheboksary. From 1973 to 1978, he worked at the Chişinău opera theater, in 1974 also at the Stanislavskij and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater in Moscow. In 1978, he sang at the Kirov (Mariinskij); chemistry between him and the Kirov was not right, so he went back to Chişinău. From 1980, he appeared in concert (which means, I suppose, only in concert).

Important roles: Jurij (Charodejka), Vodemon, Golitsyn, Manrico, Radames, Alfredo, Turiddu, Canio, Pollione, Pinkerton, German, Finn, José, Cavaradossi.
