Evgenij Shapin

Evgenij Shapin was born on August 13th, 1946 in Gryzly, Ozinskij district, Saratov oblast. He graduated from the State Institute for Theater, Music and Film in Leningrad. He sang at the Leningrad Malij Opera and Ballet Theater first, and from 1978 to 1988, he was a soloist at the Moscow Bolshoj Theatre.

Shapin toured a lot abroad, and from 1980 to 1988, he was a regular guest at the Berlin State Opera.

In 1988, he had a car accident, and the doctors forbade him to sing: he had to end his career. In 1992, he went into business. In 2004, he founded a factory for the production of musical instruments in Shchjolkovo near Moscow.

His repertory included: Sobinin, Lykov, Lenskij, Almaviva, Duca, Faust, Berendej, Vladimir Igorevich, etc.
