After vocal studies in Stockholm and Essen, he made his debut as a baritone in Göteborg
in 1962; for a few years, he would appear as a drama actor in Stockholm, and sing opera in Oslo.
Then Blanc restudied as a tenor, and sang at the Royal Opera House Stockholm from 1967 to 1987. He made his debut there as
Grigorij; among his important roles were Florestan, Cavaradossi, Števa Burja in Její pastorkyňa, Jim
Mahoney in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny, Danilo, Eisenstein, German, Siegmund and Don José. Frequent guest
appearances in Malmö and Oslo; further in Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Helsinki, Frankfurt, Lisbon, Miami. He was also a
pillar of the Drottningholm summer festival.
After retiring from the stage, he was the director of the Malmö theater for four years.
