In RA format

David Stockman sings Mignon: Hon kunde icke tro
First a cabinet maker, he studied voice in 1900 in Wrocław/Breslau, Berlin and Stockholm, and sang with an itinerant operetta company (Lindens operettsällskap) in 1900/01, and with a male quartet until 1906, touring all over Europe.

In 1906, he made his opera debut at the Royal Opera Stockholm as Wilhelm Meister, and remained at that theater until retiring in 1942. Considered a Wagner specialist (he was Sweden's first Tristan in 1909), he sang a vast repertory nonetheless: Andrea Chénier, German, Marouf, Gennaro (I gioielli della Madonna), Nicias (Thaïs), Riccardo, Alvaro, Faust, José, Hoffmann, Radames, Eisenstein, Lohengrin, Stolzing, Fernand, Roméo... all in all, about 100 roles. He sang in the world premieres of three operas by Wilhelm Peterson-Berger: Arlnjot (1910), Domedagsprofeterna (1919) and Adils och Elisiv (1927).
