Sérgio Albertini

17 December 1935 – 1990 (?)

Sérgio Albertini sings Fosca: Cara città natia, with Ida Miccolis

Sérgio Albertini sings Fosca: Ah! Se tu sei fra gli angeli
Brazilian tenor. Debut in 1960. He seems to have spent his entire career in Brazil, where he was a big favorite both at the Theatro Municipal in São Paulo (his artistic homestead) and in Rio de Janeiro. He was a Carlos Gomes expert and sang in Fosca (his major success), Il Guarany, Lo schiavo, Condor (also known as Odalea) and Colombo. He was also a celebrated Andrea Chénier.

If the recollection of someone who knew him in person and posted about him on Youtube is correct, he died at 54 years old from cancer (so that would have had to be in 1990), and had late in life returned from the USA after living and working (but never singing) there for six years. I have no idea what he may have done in the US, but if that account is true, he must have returned no later than 1986, because that year, he appeared in Condor in São Paulo.
