Tomaz Alcaïde
I would like to thank Thomas Silverbörg for the recording.
First he attended the military academy in Lisbon, then he studied medicine in Coimbra, and at the same time voice in Lisbon. Chant prevailed over medicine, and he made his first steps onto stage in Lisbon. In 1925, he went to Milano for further vocal training, made a second debut at the Teatro Carcano, and had a successful career primarily in Italy (La Scala, Rome, Genova, Bergamo, Palermo), but with plenty of excursions: to Holland (1928/29), the Salzburg Festival (Ernesto, 1931), Monte Carlo, Switzerland, Finland, Malta, Spain and Portugal.
