Marcos Cubas

Marcos Cubas was born in 1919 in La Habana. He moved to Spain and studied singing there. Cubas made his debut in January 1944 at the Liceu in Barcelona as Pinkerton with Mercedes Capsir. He moved to Buenos Aires in 1947. He was a member of the Teatro Argentino in La Plata. He sang at several theaters in Buenos Aires and in the province. He finally made his debut at the Colón in 1953 as Don Carlo. He also sang in Tosca with Tebaldi and Taddei, in Norma with Dorothy Dow and Ebe Stignani, in Il tabarro with MacNeil, in Ariadne auf Naxos, Cavalleria rusticana, Bodas de sangre (by Juan José Castro), in L'amore dei tre re, in The rape of Lucretia, in Il prigioniero etc. He sang also on the radio. His career was cut short by ill health. He died in Buenos Aires on August 23rd, 1986.
