He made his debut as early as 1930 – as a baritone. In the 1940s, he switched to tenor, singing both opera and zarzuela;
although opera was clearly his predilection (his roles included Almaviva, Pinkerton or Duca), he was exclusively recorded in
zarzuela.
At some point in the 1960s, after fulfilling a contract in Puerto Rico, he decided not to return to Spain. After visiting
several Latin American countries, he settled in Venezuela for good, where he continued to appear in concert and on TV.
Other than a singer, he was also a voice teacher and a painter.
