Ignacio Genovés was from Orihuela, and a member of the local high society. It's easy to find evidence for his importance for
urban social life. But his stage career, for which evidence is incredibly much scarcer, cannot have been bad, either; it took place in the 1910s
and 1920s. He sang Antonio in the local premiere of Maruxa by Amadeo Vives at the Teatro Novedades in Barcelona, in a prominent cast (23
September 1914, few months after the Madrid world premiere).
In Orihuela, he taught voice already from the 1920s, was director of the local Teatro Circo in the 1930s, and headed another opera company there
in the 1950s (Agrupación Lírica Oriolana).
