Ricardo Jiménez
After finishing his vocal studies in Madrid, he won a talent show on TV in 1972, and that started his career. He sang with the touring Compañia Isaac Albéniz in 1973 in Marina (his debut was in Puertollano), and added Duca di Mantova to his repertory the same year. He was so successful across Spain (mostly in zarzuela) that the Teatro de la Zarzuela (Madrid) hired him in 1978. That house would be the center of his career. Other than there, he sang Massenet's des Grieux at the Teatro Regio in Parma in the 1980/81 season, at the Châtelet in Paris in 1983, in Wiesbaden, Köln, Frankfurt, Santander, Cadiz, Sevilla, in roles like Alfredo, Duca or Edgardo. "At home" at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, he would appear in works like La bruja, El huésped del sevillano, Doña Francisquita, in the world premiere of Fuenteovejuna by Manuel Moreno Buendía (1981) or as Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor. In 1982, he made a long tour of Cuba, Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Colombia with a Spanish troupe. A dust allergy forced him to retire prematurely.
