He studied voice at the Universidad de Costa Rica in San José as well as in New Orleans, where he graduated in 2003; I don't know
whether he made his debut only then (age 36). His career took place almost exclusively in Costa Rica, which means that although he sang a lot,
he didn't get to sing opera terribly often – the Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica stages only a handful of opera performances, just one
production per year. So Rodríguez appeared mostly in concerts. Abroad, he sang in Puerto Rico. While still active as a singer, he started to teach voice at the Costa Rica University, which soon became a central part of his activities.
