Giuseppe Procacci

7 December 1856 Gubbio – 5 June 1935 Gubbio

He was the elder brother of Alessandro Procacci. Their father was an innkeeper, and 15-year-old Giuseppe loved to sing while waiting the tables. One day, Milano booker Antonio Pessina happened to dine there, and was so impressed with Giuseppe's voice that he took him to Milano for vocal studies.

His career was short (1882 to 1895) and chequered as far as success. He never came to terms with the Italian fee system that assigned 30 percent of all fees to the impresario, and always felt underpaid.
